waiting for time to pass till i head out for OCIP's gathering at v-shawn's place.
it's crazy how OFTEN my OCIP pple have been meeting up.
let me count. ever since we came back from China, they have gone to Mambo twice (which i didnt! hahah!, PERSONAL REASONS) had a bbq this wed and this is the second BBQ this week!!! and how many days have we been back? a mere 12 days! hahahas.
oh wells, im glad for tonight's bbq. :) a last min thing... plus it was the BBQ that me and ezzah never had yesterday!
how can.. we went for SmuX chalet and there was no bbq at a chalet! and what was even more depressing last night. me and ezzah were the FIRST ones to go into the rooms to chop the beds but we ended up being the pathetic fews who didnt get to sleep AT ALL!
But we did had some fun night cycling to white sands, to meet up with her friends who were back from Aussie. hahahs.
we were the ultimate Anti-socials!
when the rest were playing dodgeball in the afternoon, we went out to the beach to play frisbee with some poly kids that we randomly made friends with! and they were *psst... MORE FUN to be with... hehes.
shant comment too much here. it's how FREaKING annoying that if u googled my name, you would be able to find my blog! which is like how siannnzzz
okies, since i came back i dont think i ever mentioned my OCIP... *hangs head in shame*
but the absence of my blog post does not represent a lack of personal touching moments experienced during the trip. it only means the writer of this blog is just too darn lazy/busy/ happening. being back in SG after 17 days have very HIGH opportunity cost ok.
all of which surpass the importance of blogging, as you will know from the previous entry. haha
anyway! shant digress any further.
let's dive deep into my memory and share about my china experience.
the first day we reached the school, the children welcomed us with great enthusiasm! we were treated like celebrities, where ever we went, kids were pointing at us, whispering to their friends about us. and throughout our stay, the students asked for our autographs, took tons of pictures with us and the amount of letters we all collected would prolly take 1 whole week of non stop writing to ever finish replying.
well, after all we are the FIRST foreigners they have ever encounter in their lives, so we are a bit of a fresh thingy! my Indian friend Devah was even more intriguing to them! haha
so my teaching partner was brandon and the 2 of us taught a class of 45 students.
We came with the aim of teaching them English, but I knew we left impacting in ways that we could never have imagined.
Besides teaching English, we taught them games like " Simon says, blow wind blow, dodgeball, pictionary, hang man" haha, all of which they never played before. and of course, how can we forget our classic "teambuilding games" , this is after all a SMU led initiative.
(As the traditional rite of passage into the SMU fraternity, EVERY SMU freshmen has to take part in the school's signature Freshmen TEAMBUILDING camp. and one of our university core module is "leadership and TEAMBUILDING" so how could we have left out TEAMBUILDING games in this largest SMU OCIP ever organised!)
okiess i think this is part 1 of my OCIP experience. im drainedddd.
talk about it some more another time!
